It's that time of year where we all take a look back at what was, and a look forward at what we hope will be. In doing so, it is customary to make resolutions that we may achieve the future we so fervently desire. Often, these resolutions fall by the wayside after a brief period of inspired adherence. Rarely, these resolutions are upheld and we better ourselves and, possibly, the world around us.

It is an ongoing battle we seem to wage every year. We do it so often it has become a font of humor, as so many make them while so few uphold them. Oh, we may be sincere in our desire to stay the course of whatever resolutions we may have made. Certainly, we feel guilty when we grow lax and those resolutions are forgotten, then remembered. The biggest one is usually after we notice those extra pounds scrolling by on the bathroom scale after we had so dearly sworn those pounds would inch backwards.

New Year's Day, 2006, I made several resolutions.

I kept none of them.

For a while I did well; I lost weight, ate healthier, tried to be calmer, tried to be nicer ...

I cannot say why I did not keep up with my once impassioned choices. Human nature, perhaps? Weakness of character? Lack of willpower? Maybe all three. Maybe more ...

This year, however, I have taken a proactive step in order to help me keep true to at least one of my resolutions: Writing or Creating every day.

That is the purpose of this blog. A place to write and create everyday. Or, everyday I am able to. My goal here is to post something, anything, each day.

It may be musings on life. It could be reviews of movies, DVDs, books, or games. I might post some fiction, or an image I created. I might even just pop in and gripe in a one sentence post.

This is not my only resolution, of course. I still have the old standbys of lose weight, eat healthier, and exercise more. I may even post little updates on how I'm doing as time goes by. I really should do these things for my health, and to control my worsening diabetes.

I do loves my food, though. *sigh*

The other big resolution for 2007 is to be kinder to my family. I am going to spend more time with my nephews doing things with just us. I've recently purchased a few games to help start it off. I want to do things with them, and not just sit and watch television all the time. I might even learn how to play *shudder* Yu-Gi-Oh.

Well, if you've read this far, I hope your eyes haven't plopped out of your head yet. Because then you would miss me wishing you a very Safe and Prosperous New Year! ^.^

Oh, and feel free to comment ... and to come back regularly as i will be posting SOMETHING everyday .. especially as i learn how to use the monstrous beast of a blogging tool! ^.^;;;

My friend, you are off to a good start with this blog. You've written more in one post than I've written on mine in almost a year. And no, I'm not putting the address here.
Keep it up! And thanks for the help getting me through end-game last night. What a blast that was!

Someone has a new blog!

Good luck with the new year's resolutions. I gave up making them a few years ago because I got tired of feeling bad when I (predictably) failed to keep up with them. I thought about making a few this year, but thought "Why set myself up for failure?" ;-)

And you know what I think you should be writing, but I guess this is a good start, eh? Not that I'm nagging on anything ... :-P
